An unarmed and peaceful Florida woman violently tackled in a case of apparent unprovoked police brutality this month has lawyered up and was demanding that the officers involved be held accountable.

Dyma Loving, who is Black, came forward on Tuesday to talk about how Miami cops violently arrested her on March 5 after she called police because she said a neighbor threatened her. She and her lawyer have threatened to sue the department and want Miami-Dade Police Officer Alejandro Giraldo fired for using excessive force and abusing his authority, NBC News Miami reported.
“I’m not going to let them kill me out here like they want to,” Loving said at a press conference while recalling her mindstate during the violent arrest. “I’m not about to be the next Trayvon Martin or Sandra Bland or anybody else. I have three kids and they need me.”
After the video sparked outrage last week on social media, Miami-Dade Police Department Director Juan Perez announced that Giraldo was placed on paid administrative leave during an ongoing investigation. Perez also acknowledged that he was aware of the arrest several days before the video circulated on social media. The director admitted it was “deeply troubling.”
The police said the exchange between Loving and Giraldo escalated after officers responded to her call about a neighbor who had allegedly pointed a gun at Loving.
A voice on the video is heard saying, “please calm down.”
“She needs to be corrected, if anything,” one of the cops responds before he grabs Loving to make an arrest.
During the encounter, Loving does not fight back.
The officers tackled her to the ground and wrenched her arms behind her back before placing her in handcuffs. The officers are then seen yanking her up and dragging her to a police vehicle.

Loving reportedly suffered a minor injury to her elbow but did not seek medical attention and was taken to jail.
Twitter users, outraged by the arrest, tagged the police chief and the department’s account when they shared the video, WSVN-TV reported.
“I am aware of the concerning video circulating on social media involving our department. I find the actions depicted on the video deeply troubling and in no way reflective of our core values of integrity, respect, service, and fairness…” Perez tweeted on March 13.
