Here we go again. Failure to make child support payments could result in more jail time for R. Kelly, who claims to be broke while also defending himself in a criminal sex abuse case.

The disgraced R&B singer missed his last two months of child support payments to his ex Andrea Kelly, according to TMZ.
Kelly is required to pay $20,833 a month in child support. In March, he was arrested for falling behind on the payments that totaled more the $160,000 at that time. Someone paid the six-figure tab on Kelly’s behalf to get him out of jail in Chicago.
In a separate legal matter, Kelly was charged on Feb. 22 with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting three underage girls and one adult woman. The charges came after the release of the “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary.
The latest sex crime charges he is facing stem from attorney Michael Avenatti giving purported child porn videos to prosecutors that featured the singer. Avenatti said he was hired last April in connection to multiple allegations of Kelly sexually assaulting minors. He claimed to have videotaped evidence, which, despite their similarities, were apparently not the same video footage that got Kelly indicted in 2002 — and acquitted in 2008 — for child porn.
His lawyer has told the court that Kelly is broke. Kelly had to rely on supporters to help post $100,000 bail after he was locked up on the sexual abuse charges.
“This is someone who should be wealthy,” defense attorney Steve Greenberg told the court back in February, pointing to bad contracts and mismanagement of money as part of the reasons that Kelly’s pockets are supposedly empty.
The Blast reported that Kelly “has a balance of negative $13” as of last week. The website pointed to court documents that it said showed an overdrawn account with one bank in particular.
In what was apparently Kelly’s first paid performance since his arrests, he made $22,000 to show up for an hour at the Dirty South Lounge in Springfield, Illinois. Ticket prices originally set at $100 were reduced to $50, according to reporting from Brittany Hardaway, who added that turnout was low and fans disappointed.
Andrea Kelly wanted the media to take it easy on the singer so he could perform and earn some money, but he apparently didn’t give her any part of his paycheck from the Dirty South Lounge gig, TMZ speculated.
